Airflex is an uncured silicone rubber which has been specially formulated for use as a pressure intensifier on complex shaped parts during vacuum bagging. It can also be used to provide vacuum bag protection from puncture due to bolt heads.
Uncured Airflex can be applied over a release film on a prepreg lay-up, it will cure out in the early stages of cure and will then apply pressure intensification through prepreg curing stage. Alternatively, Airflex can be cured out on its own at 125°C in 20 minutes and then used as a cured intensifier over prepreg lay-ups.
• Eliminate resin rich corners on parts and reduce rework of parts and scrap.
• Pressure intensifiers improve the moulded finish of parts reducing cost of rework and scrap parts.
• An inexpensive alternative to re-tooling.

• Airflex should be cured on top of a release film or self adhesive PTFE.
• Any silicone rubber has the potential to transfer and therefore
silicone transfer investigation should be
carried out by the user.
• The roll weight is 5 kg and it comes with polyethylene interleave for protection.
• Other thicknesses, hardnesses and colours available on request. Minimum order quantity may apply.
• The maximum use temperature is dependent upon the duration at maximum temperature and is process
specific, Airtech recommends testing prior to use.
