Corehold HB is a heat activated backing material used to stabilise and hold honeycombs on vacuum fixtures during machining operations. Corehold HB is a strong backing paper with a one side coating of modified epoxy resin. It is nontacky at room temperature.

• Cut to size with extra around the periphery to allow holding.
• Remove poly backer and place resin side down onto the honeycomb.
• Apply heat and light pressure. Good results can be obtained with a laundry iron to apply
heat and smooth backer onto honeycomb.
• Iron should be set to between 50°C (122°F) and 60°C (140°F). This may require adjustment depending on
honeycomb material type and weight. Once cooled the honeycomb will be strongly stuck to the Corehold.
• Removal can be achieved by warming to 50°C (122°F) to 60°C (140°F) for 5 minutes in an oven or with direct
heat from an iron or heat gun. Then peel away Corehold backer. This may require adjustment based on
material type and weight.
• The maximum use temperature is dependent upon the duration at maximum temperature and is process
specific, Airtech recommends testing prior to use.
• Some trace of resin will remain on the core and can not be removed by added heat, nor cured. It may be
removed using a solvent that can dissolve epoxy and meets the local environmental regulations.
